Earthworks and soil stabilisation in Wolverhampton

Greenfisher Contracting had the opportunity to show a new client what they could do on a ~23,000m2 site in Wolverhampton, ahead of two new units and associated infrastructure.
The project, which was valued at over £450,000, started with a significant site clearance; including the removal of trees and vegetation, stripping of existing pea gravel from old gas holder bases and the subsequent break-out of the concrete bases, and the removal of a defunct telecommunications mast in a tricky location!

This was followed up by over 7,000m3 of cut to fill (including attenuation tank excavation and backfill), and 5% and 30% CBR soil stabilisation to improve the site-won soils to reduce the total import and export quantities.

The site was finished with the placement of granular materials, including site-won aggregate following our crushing of the hard materials to produce a Type 1 grading.

A positive working relationship was established with our new client, and we hope to continue to work with them on future projects!
